Kimberly English is a fibers artist and educator living and working in Asheville, North Carolina. She earned her BFA in Fibers as a Distinguished Scholar from Savannah College of Art and Design, and subsequently earned her MFA from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Kimberly's textile-based practice is informed by traditional craft processes as they intersect with contemporary garment production. Her making process utilizes both body and machine, emphasizing textiles as a microcosm of manufacturing. The role of myth and the power of progress are intrinsically intertwined in her weavings, sculptures, and textile collages, antagonizing the parallel of cloth to the human experience. Kimberly’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently at CICA, Museum of Craft and Design, and Vox Populi.
